Amanda Wherry

Former Missionary

Amanda is a licensed occupational therapist and was New Heights Church’s first missions director before moving to Central Asia for seven years. While there she helped to start the first OT/PT/ST department at a developing hospital in a city of more than two million. After learning local dialects of sign language, she started and led a church for the deaf, helped lead the middle school and high school expat youth group, and also took her guitar into brothel districts to lead worship with prostitutes.

Since returning to the States, Amanda has founded MentorMe - a youth mentoring program for children and teenagers with special needs or social challenges. She has also founded a branch of Free Indeed here in NWA - a freedom, healing, and deliverance ministry that equips people to know their identity, God’s purpose for their lives, and how to break off things that hinder them. She currently lives in NWA, and on good weather days can be found hiking around the Buffalo National River, probably getting lost and needing to hitchhike back to her car.
